Job summary

Vulcan is hiring at Plates Auckland for a hands-on CNC laser/plasma operator role in a fast-paced steel manufacturing environment. Morning shift, Monday to Friday, 6am–4pm, offering permanent hours.

You will operate CNC laser and plasma cutting machines, use overhead gantry cranes to position steel plates, and ensure quality and safety standards are met while supporting production processes.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC laser/plasma cutting machines.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and measurements.
• High attention to detail with quality and accuracy.

Job description

You will operate CNC laser/plasma machines and overhead gantry cranes at our Plates Auckland site. It is a hands-on role in a fast-paced steel manufacturing environment.

Morning shift, Monday to Friday, 6am–4pm.

What You'll Do

• Operate CNC laser and plasma cutting machines
• Operate overhead gantry cranes to position steel plates
• Set up and feed product into machines for processing
• Load and unload steel materials and finished parts
• Monitor cut quality and maintain production standards
• Assist with routine machine maintenance to keep machines running efficiently
• Work safely, both independently and as part of a team

What You'll Need

• Fibre laser machine experience is an advantage
• Overhead gantry crane experience is highly desirable
• Plasma machine experience is also valued

• Proven experience operating overhead gantry cranes (training available)
• Experience working with mild steel, plate or heavy materials
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and measurements
• Strong understanding of machine set up and production processes
• High attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy

• A valid work visa or right to work in New Zealand
• Able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol test
