New Zealand Blood Service – East Tamaki, North Island

About New Zealand Blood and Organ Service

New Zealand Blood and Organ Service (NZBS) is dedicated to saving lives. Every year, tens of thousands of generous people donate their time, blood and plasma to us for free. In addition to our vein-to-vein service in transfusion we also provide national services in organ transplantation, cellular therapies, and tissue banking. We exist to ensure the efficient delivery of safe blood and tissue products on a time critical basis throughout New Zealand and through the generosity of our donors, we are able to help save lives.

Our shared values are at the heart of our organisation's culture and guide our behaviour each and every day. These values inspire, motivate us and drive us to provide the very best service to the New Zealand public.

Our Highbrook Logistics team is looking for a new colleague to join our tight-knit team.

About the role

Working as part of a team, this role's primary responsibility will be a hands-on warehouse assisting role involving everything from "pick and pack", receipting and checking of inwards goods and other duties associated with our busy GMP compliant warehouse. The role is also responsible for data entry, inspection and manual handling of inwards goods including distribution to areas within the Blood Service.

Good computer skills are essential as you will be working with a variety of programs to manage our inwards and outwards stock movements, reconciliations and monthly stock count.

The logistics team acts as gatekeepers for NZBS, ensuring all materials we receive are safe and fit for use and our lifesaving blood and blood products are stored, transported and received safely and in a timely manner.

  • Working as part of the warehouse team, primarily within the Inwards Goods function.
  • Receiving, inspecting, and processing incoming goods, including accurate data entry into inventory systems.
  • Manual handling of incoming stock and distributing goods to designated locations within the service
  • Picking, packing, and dispatching products to locations throughout New Zealand
  • Following defined warehouse processes and maintaining a high level of accuracy at all times
  • Conducting stock control, cycle counts, and inventory management activities
  • Providing excellent customer service to a wide range of internal and external customers
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised warehouse environment
  • This is a physically active role that involves regular lifting, carrying, picking, walking, standing, and reaching throughout the day.

About you

This hands-on role is perfect for someone who is looking for a new challenge in a high-impact environment within a values driven organisation.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Previous experience in warehousing, preferably within a small-parts, pick-and-pack, or distribution environment, and computerised stock control (essential) with a minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Experience within FMCG and or Pharmaceutical would be an added advantage
  • Data entry experience with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes and directions
  • A good level of physical fitness, as this role involves regular picking, packing, lifting, and movement of small to medium-sized items throughout the day
  • Full, clean Class 1 New Zealand driver's licence
  • Forklift licence required; however, the primary focus of this role is hands-on picking, packing, stock handling, and inventory management
  • A friendly and outgoing nature, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced warehouse with a strong focus on order accuracy, stock control, and efficient fulfilment.
