Job summary

Higgins is seeking an experienced Asphalt Plant - Loader Operator in Christchurch to join our Higgins Team on a permanent, full-time basis. You will operate loaders to support the safe and efficient delivery of our asphalt products and work nights as required.

A strong safety mindset and ability to work well in a crew are essential. The role offers ongoing training, development, and a supportive team culture with long-term career opportunities.

Qualifications

• Full Class 1 licence (Class 2–4 and WTR endorsements advantageous).
• Proven experience operating loaders and other heavy plant in civil construction, roading, quarrying, or infrastructure environments.
• Strong understanding of plant maintenance and daily pre-start checks.
• Available to work nights as required.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a crew and follow instructions/schedules.
• Safety-first attitude with commitment to protecting yourself, your team and the public.
• Physically fit and willing to assist with general labouring duties when required.
• Positive, reliable, and proactive approach to work.
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for civil construction.

Our Higgins Team is looking for an experienced Asphalt Plant - Loader Operator to join our Christchurch-based crew.

This is a permanent, full-time position, guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week. In this role, you'll operate loaders to support the safe and efficient delivery of our asphalt products.

We're looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in operating machinery to a high standard, and is committed to delivering quality work safely.

What you'll bring to the role:

• Full Class 1 licence (Class 2–4 and WTR endorsements highly advantageous)
