Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney for a full-time role in Queenstown. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload including civil, commercial and family disputes, with strong advocacy in court and strategic counseling for clients.

The role requires admission to the High Court of South Africa, a minimum of five years’ litigation experience, and the ability to handle complex matters independently within a respected firm serving the Eastern Cape community.

Qualifications

• Must be admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and reside or relocate to Queenstown.
• Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of civil procedure, evidence law and substantive legal principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and motions.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis of case law and statutes.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
• Manage all aspects of litigation from inception to resolution.
• Interview clients and witnesses to gather evidence and testimony.
• Negotiate settlements and mediate disputes on behalf of clients.
• Advise clients on legal strategies and potential outcomes.
• Liaise with opposing counsel, court officials and other parties.
