Job summary

HEB Construction in Auckland is seeking an experienced Level 3 IT Engineer to join the in-house IT team. You will provide senior technical support across Microsoft 365, networking, endpoints, and infrastructure, and act as an escalation point for complex issues.

You will mentor Helpdesk staff, lead upgrades, and drive continuous improvement while delivering reliable IT services across a dynamic portfolio of projects.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in IT operations, infrastructure, or support.
• Experience as Systems Engineer/Administrator or similar.
• Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 and end-user devices.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 services and identity management.

Responsibilities

Job description

HEB Construction is a dynamic and innovative leader in the construction of New Zealand's infrastructure. We are involved with a variety of projects from road construction and maintenance through to earthworks, drainage, marine works, and major projects of national significance.

We are seeking an experienced Level 3 IT Engineer to join our Auckland-based IT team in a full-time, permanent capacity.

In this role, you will provide senior technical support across HEB's Microsoft 365, networking, endpoint, and infrastructure environments. You will act as an escalation point for complex issues, support technology projects, mentor other Helpdesk team members, and help drive continuous improvement across our IT services.

You will bring the following experience and technical capability:

• 4+ years' experience in IT operations, infrastructure, or technical support
• Experience in a Systems Engineer, Systems Administrator, or similar role
• Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 and end-user devices
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365 services
• Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and identity management
• Experience with Intune and modern endpoint management
• Networking and troubleshooting experience across Wi-Fi, VPN, and remote access
• Knowledge of Aruba networking solutions is desirable
• Experience with PowerShell, scripting, or automation
• Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills
• Experience delivering upgrades, migrations, or improvement initiatives

Relevant tertiary qualifications and Microsoft, Azure, ITIL, networking, or security certifications will be advantageous.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide Level 3 support and technical escalation
• Responsible for techinal support and leadership for level 1 and level 2 helpdesk
• Support Microsoft 365, endpoints, networks, and infrastructure
• Mentor and coach Helpdesk team members
• Lead technical upgrades and improvement projects
• Maintain documentation and knowledge articles
• Develop automation and process improvements
• Work with vendors to resolve complex issues
• Participate in an after-hours on-call roster
