Job summary

King’s College is seeking a dedicated Learning Centre Specialist to support students with diverse learning needs. The role focuses on literacy and numeracy, one-to-one and small-group teaching, and collaboration with teachers and families to foster inclusive, student-centered learning.

Ideal candidates will have experience or training in learning support or related fields and a passion for helping young people build confidence and independence within a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Experience or formal training in learning support, special education, educational psychology, neurodiversity or a related field would be advantageous.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills are essential.
• Ability to support students across multiple subject areas would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support and teaching to help students make progress and reach their potential.
• In-class student support
• Working 1-1 with funded students
• Helping students develop effective learning routines, organisation and self-advocacy
• Using practical strategies and adjustments to support diverse learning needs
• Supporting implementation of Individual Education Plans and targeted learning strategies
• Assisting with assessment and examination accommodations where appropriate
• Collaborating with teachers and staff to promote inclusive and accessible learning
• Building positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues
• Administrative duties as required

King’s College is looking for a dedicated, student-focused Learning Centre Specialist to join our dynamic Learning Centre team. We are looking for someone with experience in schools and working with students who have a range of diverse learning needs.

We welcome teachers or teacher aides from a range of backgrounds, including those with primary or intermediate training. Strong literacy and numeracy skills are essential, and the ability to support students across multiple subject areas would be an advantage.

We are looking for someone:

• Who is caring and nurturing, and is dedicated to helping students overcome their different learning challenges
• Who can bring their expertise and experience in teaching numeracy and literacy to students of various skill levels, with a focus on those who need extra support
• Who has patience and empathy and is able to provide a safe and encouraging learning environment, tailoring their approach to meet individual needs and abilities
• Who has a student-centred approach and can collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a comprehensive approach to each students’ education
• Who is innovative in their teaching and who can employ creative and engaging methods to make subjects accessible and enjoyable for all students

Key responsibilities include:

• Working closely with classroom teachers, Heads of Department, Housemasters and wider College staff to promote inclusive and accessible learning
• Building positive, collaborative relationships with students, parents/caregivers and colleagues
• Contributing to a welcoming, inclusive and supportive Learning Centre environment
• Administrative duties as required

About you:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning. We want someone who can support students to develop the confidence and skills to succeed. You will bring empathy, patience, strong organisation and excellent communication skills, together with an ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of students.

Experience or formal training in learning support, special education, educational psychology, neurodiversity or a related field would also be advantageous.
