Job summary

Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers is seeking a versatile Learning Assistant to support classroom activities and school administration.

In this role you will deliver morning learning support under the guidance of the classroom teacher, helping students participate in activities and building positive relationships. In the afternoons you will welcome visitors, manage general admin, and provide basic first aid where required.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Work effectively as part of a busy team.
• Confident working with children.
• Customer service and/or relevant work experience.
• Current first aid certificate or willing to obtain one.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Support students with their learning under the classroom teacher's guidance.
• Help students participate confidently and successfully in classroom activities.
• Build positive, respectful relationships while supporting students' wellbeing, independence and inclusion.
• Welcome visitors and answer telephone enquiries.
• Complete filing and general administration tasks.
• Provide first aid and care for students in the sick bay.
• Assist with the day-to-day needs of the school office.
