Job summary

The University of Canterbury in Christchurch invites applications for a Learning Designer to design learner-centred experiences across hybrid, blended and online courses, combining pedagogy, technology and creativity. You will work with academic staff and subject matter experts to develop engaging learning activities and resources, support course development, and promote flexible learning strategies.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Learning Design-related role involving hybrid / online delivery (Preferably in an academic setting)
• Tertiary Qualification – National Diploma (NZQA Level 7) in Education / Learning Design / Instructional Design / e Learning or a related discipline area or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience applying learning design and pedagogical principles to course development
• Experience developing engaging learning activities, resources or assessment approaches
• Demonstrated experience identifying issues, developing solutions and managing competing deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience producing clear documentation
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in dynamic project or product environments

Responsibilities

• Design engaging, learner-centred experiences for hybrid, blended and online courses.
• Provide learning design advice to support course development and redevelopment.
• Work with academic staff and subject matter experts to develop effective learning and assessment activities.
• Support staff to incorporate blended learning and flexible learning strategies into their courses.
• Develop and maintain high-quality learning resources aligned with curriculum and learning outcomes.
• Collaborate with media specialists to select and develop engaging digital content and resources.
