Hillmorton High School in Christchurch is seeking a mainstream Learning Assistant on a fixed-term basis to cover leave. You will support ākonga with literacy and numeracy across the timetable under teacher supervision, occasionally working independently.
The role is 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am–3:00 pm. Police vetting is required before appointment, and applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand. Salary aligns with the NZEI Support Staff agreement.

This role supports students in mainstream schooling. The successful candidate will have strong literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to support the progress, engagement, and achievement of ākonga at Te Kura Tuarua o Horomaka. In this role you will assist the classroom teacher by supporting students to access their learning.
This position is for a fixed-term position to cover leave. Start date to be negotiated once a successful police vet has been received. This position ends on 11th December 2026.
The hours of work are 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9.00 am-3:00pm.
Qualifications and Experience
The Learning Assistant will:
