Job summary

CORDE is seeking a skilled Leading Hand to join our Drainage team in Rolleston, Canterbury. You will manage drainage projects, read plans, and keep production targets on track while mentoring crew and ensuring high workmanship.

Key requirements include proven team leadership, deep drainage, trench excavation with shields, pipelaying, dewatering, and WTR endorsements. NZ Registration and STMS are valued. We offer a supportive culture and varied projects.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a drainage crew in a construction environment.
• Ability to read and interpret drainage plans and drawings.
• WTR endorsements are essential for this role.
• NZ Registration preferred; CCC Authorised may be advantageous.
• STMS qualification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage drainage projects from start to finish, ensuring safety and quality.
• Read plans, schedule work, and drive the crew to meet production targets.

We have a strong pipeline of work ahead and are looking for a skilled and motivated Leading Hand to join our Drainage team. As a Leading Hand, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing a variety of drainage projects. This role requires experience across all aspects of drainage work, along with the ability to read and interpret plans while keeping projects on track to meet production targets. Strong leadership skills are essential and you should be confident in training and mentoring team members while maintaining high-quality workmanship.

• Proven experience leading a team within the industry
• Expertise in deep drainage, trench excavation with shields, pipelaying, and dewatering
• CCC Authorised & NZ Registered (preferred)
• National Certificate in Water or Drainage (advantageous)
• WTR endorsements (essential)
• STMS (preferred)
• Ability to communicate effectively and drive team performance
• Physically fit, self-motivated, and safety-conscious
