The Leading Hand (Mobile Maintenance) is responsible f or providing frontline leadership and technical support to the maintenance team, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of planned and breakdown maintenance activities across underground mobile equipment, fixe d plant and site infrastructure.
Reporting to the Mobile Supervisor, this hands-on role leads by example and plays a critical role in driving equipment reliability, maintenance performance and workforce effectiveness. The Leading Hand Mobile Maintenance supports the coordination of maintenance activities, mentors team members and ensures all work is completed to the required safety, quality and operational standards.
As our Leading Hand Mobile Maintenance, you will be responsible for:
Maintenance Leadership
- Provide day-to-day leadership, direction and support to maintenance personnel and contractors.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with operational priorities.
- Assist with the allocation of resources, labour and equipment across maintenance activities.
- Lead pre-start meetings and ensure work crews understand daily priorities and safety requirements.
- Promote a positive team culture focused on safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop apprentices, trade assistants and less experienced trades personnel.
- Act as the first point of escalation for maintenance issues during shift operations.
- Support the Maintenance Supervisor-Mobile Maintenance in achieving maintenance and reliability objectives.
Maintenance Duties
- Perform maintenance, fault finding and repair activities on underground mobile equipment, fixed plant and associated infrastructure.
- Assist with the planning and execution of preventative maintenance programs.
- Coordinate and participate in breakdown response activities to minimise equipment downtime.
- Monitor equipment condition and identify opportunities to improve reliability and performance.
- Review completed work orders to ensure maintenance standards and documentation requirements are met.
- Ensure maintenance activities are completed in accordance with OEM recommendations and site procedures.
- Assist with shutdown planning and execution.
- Support component change-outs, equipment rebuilds and commissioning activities.
- Liaise with operations personnel to minimise disruptions and maximise equipment availability.
- Ensure tools, equipment and work areas are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within maintenance processes.
Workplace Duties
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports and work order documentation.
- Promote Endura Mining's safety culture and environmental standards.
- Completion of paperwork, documentation and other tools required by site procedures and policies.
- Use positive radio and workplace communications at all times.
- Undertake additional or alternative responsibilities as reasonably assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor-Mobile Maintenance, Maintenance Superintendent or Mining Manager.
- Participate in safety and environmental verification activities and inspections.
- At all times, display behaviours in alignment with Endura Values: Safety, Integrity and Accountability.
- Assist the broader site operations team by maintaining high professional standards and positive working relationships.
- Bring a positive can-do attitude.
About you:
- National Certificate in Automotive Engineering Plant and Equipment level 4 or National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Level 4 or other recognised trade and/or relative industry experience.
- Previous experience in underground mining, heavy mobile equipment maintenance or a similar industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading maintenance crews or acting in a leading hand capacity.
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Sound understanding of preventative maintenance and equipment reliability principles.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritise competing maintenance demands.
- Current Manual Driver Licence.
- Strong computer literacy and experience using maintenance management systems.
- Ability to work a roster that supports operational requirements.
