Job summary

AECOM seeks a Lead Water Infrastructure Engineer in Wellington to drive delivery of major three waters projects, shaping the region's water future. The role leverages national and global water expertise to guide planning, design and delivery while mentoring local engineers and collaborating with councils and stakeholders.

You will lead technically challenging projects, ensure design excellence, manage risks, and contribute to business development in a dynamic, transforming NZ water sector.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required
• CPEng status or ability to obtain
• Proven technical leadership in water infrastructure projects
• Strong client relationships and stakeholder management
• Commercial awareness and sound engineering judgement

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of complex three waters infrastructure projects across the Wellington region, providing design leadership, technical assurance and engineering expertise.
• Build trusted relationships with local councils, water service entities and key stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
• Champion technical excellence by driving high‑quality design outcomes, managing project risk and supporting successful commercial delivery.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across New Zealand and AECOM's global network to bring innovative, practical solutions to local challenges.
• Mentor and develop engineers, growing Wellington's technical capability within AECOM's Water business.
• Support business development activities and strengthen AECOM's regional reputation as a trusted partner.
