Placements24 is seeking a Lead Mine Surveyor for an underground mining project near Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will lead survey teams, ensure data accuracy for development and production, and implement advanced surveying technologies.

You will mentor junior surveyors, coordinate with engineers and geologists, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This is a senior role with a competitive package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mine Surveying or geospatial field.
• At least 10 years mine surveying, 5+ underground.
• Registration with a surveying body (e.g., PLATO) essential.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Surpac or similar software.
• Strong leadership and safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all underground mine surveying activities.
• Ensure accuracy of survey data for planning and production.
• Implement and maintain advanced surveying systems.
• Train and mentor junior surveyors.
• Coordinate with management, engineers and geologists.
• Conduct quality control on data and equipment.
• Prepare survey reports, plans and cross-sections.
• Maintain records and regulatory compliance.
• Identify opportunities for technological improvements.
