Job summary

ASB Bank is seeking an experienced Technical Consultant (Lead Engineer) to provide technical leadership across Domestic Payments engineering and ASB's Open Banking API initiatives.

You will design, implement and evolve secure external API capabilities, translate complex requirements into practical designs, and mentor engineers to ensure scalable, secure delivery aligned with ASB architecture standards.

Qualifications

• Significant software engineering experience with C#/.NET
• Experience leading solution architecture for complex integration platforms
• Knowledge of Open Banking and API security standards
• Strong Azure design and cloud delivery experience
• Understanding of authentication/authorization: OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, TLS

Responsibilities

• Lead design of Open Banking, external API and integration capabilities.
• Drive implementation of new integrations into ASB's external API platform.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and delivery plans.
• Provide technical leadership across Open Banking, API security, and integration architecture.
• Design secure authentication/authorization using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, mutual TLS.
• Guide API gateways, access policies and enterprise integration patterns.
• Apply Azure knowledge to scalable, reliable cloud solutions (Functions, SQL DB, Cosmos DB, Service Bus).
• Lead design governance for scalability, reliability, performance and security.
• Collaborate with InfoSec and Enterprise Architecture to align security patterns.
• Break down complex workstreams into practical components and steps.
• Mentor engineers and influence practices across teams.
