Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age upon entry.
• No criminal convictions in the previous two years.
• Pass an Officer Selection Board.
• Pass the RNZN Diver Selection Board.
• Pass the Diver trade Multi‑Stage Fitness Test: Level 9.5 beep test, 30 press‑ups, 30 abdominal curls, 6 pull‑ups, and 400 m fin‑swim in no more than 8 min 30 s.
• Meet colour perception requirements, if applicable.
• Undergo strict citizenship and security clearance, including TSV security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and train a dive team, ensuring their continued training and well-being.
• Manage safety, plan and command dive operations.
• Serve in operational deployments to coalition missions.
• Provide expert advice to other Defence Force organisations.
• Maintain underwater skills through regular diving and physical training.
• Prepare reports related to diving operations.
