Job summary

Aurecon Group is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join the Energy & Industrial team in New Zealand. This role focuses on leading mechanical work across brownfield and sustaining capital projects, developing options, and guiding studies from inception to site delivery.

You will work closely with clients, project teams, and site personnel, applying sound engineering judgement to deliver practical outcomes and maintain strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer with experience in industrial, manufacturing, energy or processing environments.
• Ability to lead projects or workstreams and communicate recommendations clearly.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and sound engineering judgement.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering work across brownfield and sustaining capital projects.
• Develop and assess engineering options, providing clear recommendations to clients.
• Guide projects from early-stage studies through to delivery and site support.
• Build relationships with clients and key project stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver project outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and grow the mechanical capability.
