Job summary

Auckland Council is seeking a Lead Lifeguard at Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre to ensure a safe and welcoming experience for all customers.

This permanent part-time position offers 28 hours per week, with potential up to 40 hours in school holidays and summer. You will supervise lifeguarding duties, support aquatic programmes, and help manage day-to-day operations while spending significant time outdoors in the sun.

Qualifications

• Must hold PLPC certificate to work as a lifeguard.
• Strong swimming ability with water safety focus.
• Excellent communication to engage customers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on aquatics-based programmes and lifeguarding duties.
• Support the Team Leader with day-to-day operations at the Centre.
• Manage and maintain pool water quality and plant room operations.
