Job summary

Select Recruitment in Dunedin is seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Manager for hands-on leadership of fabrication, installation and 3 Waters projects. You will price, tender, source suppliers and drive projects from award to completion with a focus on quality and safety.

Lead client relationships, monitor costs, and coordinate site-based delivery while you help grow a respected, locally owned engineering business committed to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience estimating within engineering, fabrication, structural steel, or piping.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines with high accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills to build client and subcontractor relationships.
• Ability to identify risks and opportunities within tender documentation.
• Strong commercial, QA and manufacturing skills with site installation knowledge.
• Proven experience managing site-based engineering projects from start to finish.
• Knowledge of NZ industry standards including NZ health and safety practices; 3 Waters exposure advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates, quotes and tender submissions for structural steel, pipe fabrication and engineering projects.
• Review specifications, drawings, labour requirements and costs to develop pricing.
• Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Manage projects from award to completion, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and spec.
• Coordinate materials, subcontractors, workshop activities and installation schedules.
• Maintain client relationships and provide regular project updates.
• Conduct site visits, monitor progress and ensure quality and health & safety compliance.
• Track project costs, labour hours and overall project performance.
