Job summary

Auckland Council’s Environmental Services department seeks a Senior Bio Information Analyst to lead the management, analysis and improvement of ecological datasets, supporting biodiversity protection and SNA programmes across Tāmaki Makaurau.

Working with ecologists, planners and technical specialists, you will ensure data robustness, develop innovative reporting approaches, and influence how ecological information informs planning and policy decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental discipline with 7+ years of professional experience.
• Strong knowledge of natural sciences, NZ ecology, and environmental information.
• Proven experience developing information, database, geospatial or data-support solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management and maintenance of SNA, ecosystem and ecological datasets.
• Undertake spatial data reviews and quality assurance to support environmental decision-making.
• Develop and improve ecological data capture, classification and analysis methodologies.
• Apply remote sensing and image analysis techniques to support ecological assessment and monitoring.
• Deliver specialist GIS, mapping and reporting services for environmental programmes and projects.
• Mentor others in spatial data methodologies.
