Job summary

Bioresearches, the ecology brand of Babbage Consultants Limited, is seeking aJunior Freshwater Ecologist to join our Christchurch team. You will contribute to freshwater and wetland surveys, assessments and monitoring, while supporting terrestrial and marine disciplines as required.

You’ll work in a collaborative, environment-focused team with opportunities to grow practical field experience and report writing skills in a dynamic setting.

Qualifications

• Post-graduate qualification in ecology, environmental science or related discipline.
• Working knowledge of freshwater ecosystems in New Zealand.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Love of the outdoors.
• Good level of fitness for field work and ability to work in remote/rough terrain.
• Ecological survey and report writing experience from study, research or work.
• Full New Zealand Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist delivery of freshwater and wetland surveys, assessments and monitoring programs.
• Support multidisciplinary teams across ecology, terrestrial and marine disciplines as needed.
• Contribute to field data collection, data analysis and reporting.

Our exciting role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Freshwater Ecologist to join our growing team in Christchurch. In this role you would work collaboratively within a multidiscipline environment, to provide expert advice and assist the delivery of high-quality freshwater and wetland surveys, assessments, management and monitoring programs, while assisting terrestrial and marine disciplines where necessary/required.

You will work in a highly motivated team who are passionate about the environment, ecology, sustainable solutions and who love their workplace. At Bioresearches, every day is different, and every day makes a difference.

What you’ll need

• A relevant post-graduate qualification in ecology, environmental science or related discipline
• Working knowledge of freshwater ecosystems in New Zealand
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Love of the outdoors
• A good level of fitness, capability to do field work and ability to work in remote and rough terrain
• Ecological survey and report writing experience gained through study, research or employment
• Full New Zealand Drivers License
