Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in New Zealand seeks a Laboratory Manager - Analytical to lead the analytical laboratory function, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant testing for manufacturing, quality and regulatory obligations.

You will provide technical leadership over analytical methods, maintain ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, oversee LIMS governance, and drive continuous improvement while developing a skilled, engaged team in a supportive Abbott environment in Pokeno.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Science, Food Science, Microbiology or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years’ laboratory experience in regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements and quality systems.
• Experience leading investigations, CAPA, audits and non-conformance management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage laboratory operations to deliver safe, accurate and timely analytical testing.
• Maintain ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and Abbott quality standards; ensure ongoing compliance.
• Act as laboratory representative during inspections, audits and reviews.
• Provide technical leadership for analytical methods, validation and QC programmes.
• Develop and maintain laboratory capability through competency, training and authorization programmes.
• Oversee LIMS governance, data integrity and security; ensure system validation.
• Review investigations, analytical results and quality decisions within delegated authority.
• Drive continuous improvement, cost efficiency and customer-focused outcomes.
