Job summary

Groundswell Landscapes is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Landscape Gardener to join our Queenstown team. This is a hands-on, full-time role working across a range of high-end residential landscaping projects.

You’ll be involved in both soft and hard landscaping, garden construction and general landscape development. We’re looking for someone with at least 1 years’ relevant professional experience who is reliable, practical and keen to continue developing their landscaping skills.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year’s relevant professional work experience in landscaping, gardening, horticulture or a closely related outdoor industry.
• Practical experience carrying out hands-on landscaping or garden work.
• Ability to safely use common landscaping hand tools and equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors and undertake physically demanding work.
• Full, clean manual driver’s licence – essential.
• Good communication skills and a reliable, positive approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Planting, garden establishment and general horticultural work.
• Garden preparation, soil preparation and mulching.
• Lawn preparation, installation and maintenance.
• Pruning, trimming and general garden maintenance.
• Construction of garden beds, paths, edging and other landscape features.
• Installation and maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
• Basic earthworks, excavation and site preparation.
• Operating landscaping machinery and hand tools.
• Loading, transporting and placing landscaping materials.
• Maintaining clean, tidy and safe work sites.
• Working from plans, drawings and site instructions.
• Working as part of a team to complete landscaping projects to a high standard.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum requirements:

• At least 1 years’ relevant professional work experience in landscaping, gardening, horticulture or a closely related outdoor industry
• Practical experience carrying out hands‑on landscaping or garden work
• Ability to safely use common landscaping hand tools and equipment
• Ability to work outdoors and undertake physically demanding work
• Ability to follow instructions, work independently when required and contribute effectively to a team
• Good communication skills and a reliable, positive approach to work
• Full, clean manual driver’s licence – essential

Preferred Skills & Experience

The following are preferred but not essential:

• Experience in residential landscape construction
• Experience with planting and horticultural maintenance
• Experience with irrigation and drainage
• Experience with paving, retaining walls, edging or other hard landscaping
• Experience operating diggers, compact loaders or other landscaping machinery
• WTR endorsement or other relevant machinery qualifications
• Agricultural chemical/spraying experience
• Growsafe certificate
