Flint Group Packaging Solutions in Auckland seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform tests on manufactured inks and materials, ensuring they meet prescribed standards and specifications. The role involves color assessment, colour matching, viscosity testing, and use of analytical equipment within QC and R&D contexts.
You will collaborate with operations staff to solve issues, coach junior team members, and participate in continual improvement initiatives including audits and non-conformance
Work across all business segments including Sheetfed, Flexible Packaging, Paper & Board, Narrow Web, Press Room Chemistry and Transfer Media. Perform various tests of all manufactured products to ensure they meet the prescribed standard, including colour assessment, colour matching, viscosity and properties on various substrates. Use analytical equipment in line with Flint QC, Colour Matching, R&D Projects.

Printing of inks using Flexographic, Gravure and Offset techniques
Testing includes colour assessment, colour matching visually and by colour computer, viscosity and properties on various substrates
Use of analytical equipment in line with Flint QC, Colour Matching, R&D Projects
Liaise with operations staff to problem solve any issues and achieve Flint Group service goals to our customers
Assist in staff coaching, training and development as requested
Participate in various internal procedures and processes to aid continual improvement including Non Conformance, incident investigation, audits both internal and external
Maintain good laboratory housekeeping in personal and common areas
Ensure the provision of a safe work environment for all staff and visitors whilst performing this role and that safe work systems and practices are followed at all times
Assist with Document Control and Compliance
Tertiary Qualification with a Chemistry focus (ie Bachelor of Science) - preferred but not a prerequisite
Industry experience, ink specific knowledge is highly desirable
Ability to work within a team
Knowledge and understanding of laboratory procedures and test methods
SAP experience would be beneficial
Flexible working hours to support manufacturing and customer requirements
Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 and ISO14001:2015 principles
