Job summary

Fulton Hogan in New Zealand operates a brand-new laboratory in the Petone yard. A Laboratory Technician will collect samples, perform standardised testing, and deliver accurate results to support the wider business.

The role involves aggregate, soil and asphalt testing, field testing, equipment checks, and reporting, with night shifts and weekend work required. A hands-on, proactive approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a laboratory environment.
• A science or civil engineering qualification as preferred.
• Understanding of QA and material properties.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Full Class 1 driving licence.
• Strong safety and wellbeing focus.
• Practical, proactive and accountable.
• Strong problem-solving and forward thinking.
• Collaborative, team-focused attitude.
• Willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Collect aggregate, soil and asphalt samples and complete testing to specifications.
• Carry out laboratory testing and reporting per IANZ requirements.
• Support field testing and other physical works as required.
• Complete equipment checks and maintain calibration.
• Apply local and international test methods.
• Provide analysis and clear reporting of results.
• Stay current with pavement design and technologies.
• Work safely and speak up when something isn't right.
