Job summary

Colonial Group in New Zealand is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Hand to support our kitchen team, uphold high hygiene standards, and ensure smooth daily operations based in Lake Tekapo.

You will optimize dishwashing, assist with basic food prep, and work across shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays in a fast-paced, diverse team. This role is ideal for someone with practical kitchen experience or cleaning background and a positive, can-do attitude.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen operations or cleaning is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hygiene by cleaning crockery, cutlery, glassware and kitchen equipment using dishwashers and manual methods.
• Carry out rubbish removal, sweeping and mopping kitchen floors.
• Disinfect and clean following proper chemical usage sequences.
• Support kitchen team with basic food preparation tasks such as grating, peeling, chopping, and arranging garnishes and seasonings.

Purpose

As a Kitchen Hand, your role is pivotal in maintaining the sparkle of our kitchen. Your main responsibilities involve upholding cleanliness, including dishware, utensils, and workspaces, all while strictly adhering to hygiene standards. You are an integral part of the kitchen brigade, collaborating seamlessly to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our valued guests.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain impeccable hygiene while cleaning crockery, cutlery, glassware, and other kitchen equipment, using both commercial dishwashers and manual cleaning methods
• Carry out rubbish removal, sweeping and mopping of kitchen floors
• Disinfect and clean, ensuring the proper sequence of chemical usage
• Provide valuable support to our kitchen team, including various tasks such as basic food preparation, grating, peeling, chopping, and preparing batters, garnishes, and seasonings.

Skills & Experience

• Having practical experience in kitchen operations or cleaning is a plus
