Job summary

Colonial Group in Christchurch is seeking a Kitchen Hand to help keep the kitchen sparkling. You will clean crockery, utensils, and workspaces, and ensure hygiene standards are followed to deliver great dining experiences for guests.

The role involves dishwashing, rubbish removal, floor cleaning, and basic prep tasks such as grating, peeling, and garnishes. You should be a reliable team player with a positive attitude and flexible shifts to cover mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen operations or cleaning is preferred.
• Positive and motivated demeanour with a can-do attitude.
• Thrives in a diverse, fast-paced team environment.
• Able to work mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hygiene by cleaning crockery, cutlery, glassware and kitchen equipment using dishwashers and manual methods.
• Carry out rubbish removal, sweeping and mopping of kitchen floors.
• Disinfect and clean with correct chemical usage sequence.
• Support kitchen team with basic prep tasks such as grating, peeling, chopping and preparing batters, garnishes and seasonings.

As a Kitchen Hand, your role is pivotal in maintaining the sparkle of our kitchen. Your main responsibilities involve upholding cleanliness, including dishware, utensils, and workspaces, all while strictly adhering to hygiene standards. You are an integral part of the kitchen brigade, collaborating seamlessly to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our valued guests.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain impeccable hygiene while cleaning crockery, cutlery, glassware, and other kitchen equipment, using both commercial dishwashers and manual cleaning methods
• Carry out rubbish removal, sweeping and mopping of kitchen floors
• Disinfect and clean, ensuring the proper sequence of chemical usage
• Provide valuable support to our kitchen team, including various tasks such as basic food preparation, grating, peeling, chopping, and preparing batters, garnishes, and seasonings.

Skills & Experience

• Having practical experience in kitchen operations or cleaning is a plus
• Have an enthusiastic "can-do" attitude and a positive and motivated demeanour
• You thrive working within a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
• Flexible availability to accommodate various shifts, including mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
