Job summary

Heritage Lifecare is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for Maxwell Lifecare & Village in Blenheim. This permanent part-time role offers 9 hours per week across AM, PM, and weekend shifts, with on-site work in a welcoming, diverse team. Training will be provided and no prior experience is essential.

You will assist with kitchen tasks, food service, dishwashing and general cleaning, contributing to nutritious meals and a safe, clean environment for residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen, preferably a commercial kitchen
• Basic cookery and food hygiene skills
• Experience in cleaning and maintaining high standards of hygiene in a workplace

About this role:

• Maxwell Lifecare & Village located in sunny Blenheim
• Permanent Part-Time (9 hours per week)
• AM, PM, and Weekend shifts.

Our Kitchen Assistants help provide nutritious meals for our residents at Maxwell Lifecare while also supporting cleaning duties to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Working as part of a supportive team, you will assist with kitchen tasks, food service, dishwashing, and general cleaning. This is a hands-on role that requires a good level of fitness and a positive attitude. Experience is not essential, as full training will be provided.

Skills & Experience

• Experience working in a kitchen, preferably a commercial kitchen would be preferred however on the job training will be provided.
• Basic cookery and food hygiene skills.
• Experience in cleaning and maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in a workplace environment.
• Very good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work within a team environment and be a team player.
• Availability for morning, afternoon and weekend shifts.
• Understanding of Nga Paerewa sector standards and applying the Treaty of Waitangi standards in the workplace.
