Job summary

Te Oranganui in Whanganui seeks a role-focused professional to deliver culturally led, clinically informed AOD interventions. The incumbent will support tāne in custody on their recovery journey, providing counselling and facilitating group programmes while incorporating tikanga Māori and recovery principles.

Working closely with Corrections and community partners, the successful candidate will help strengthen wellbeing, reduce reoffending risk, and promote healthier, more constructive lives

Based in beautiful Whanganui Te Oranganui is a kaupapa Māori organisation who offers a range of health and wellbeing services for whānau in the Whanganui region and surrounding districts.

Waiora Hinengaro provide mental health & addiction services to support tāngata whai ora in their journey back to health and wellbeing, which is also underpinned in the belief that people can find their own strengths to live the life the way they want, utilising whānau as key contributors.

Waiora Hiinngaro have a number of support services that support a full spectrum of tāngata wani ??ंगa such as:

About the role:

Join Te Oranganui in delivering culturally led, clinically informed AOD interventions that reduce harm and support tāne in custody on their recovery journey. This role focuses on empowering individuals to build resilience, minimise substance-related risks, and embrace healthier, more constructive lives.

You’ll provide one-to-one counselling, facilitate group programmes, and integrate tikanga Māori and recovery principles into every aspect of practice. Working closely with Corrections and community partners, you’ll help tāne strengthen wellbeing, reduce reoffending risk, and achieve positive change.
