Job summary

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga in Hastings seeks an experienced Addictions Practitioner to provide culturally responsive assessment, treatment and counselling for kaupapa Māori health and social services. You will work with whānau one-on-one, in groups and wananga, within a supportive MDT.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30am–5:00pm, based at our integrated services site in Hastings. Applicants must hold registration with DAPAANZ or similar, and have qualifications in Psychology,

Qualifications

  • Full or Provisional Registration with DAPAANZ or equivalent clinical body
  • Qualifications in Psychology, Addictions, Social Work, Counselling or Nursing
  • Experience delivering addiction interventions incorporating Te Ao Māori models
  • Experience working with whānau
  • Understanding of Te Ao Māori and Te Reo or willingness to embrace
  • Proficiency in report writing and case management

Responsibilities

  • Conducting alcohol and drug assessments and creating personalised treatment plans
  • Leading individual and group counselling sessions, workshops, and educational programmes
  • Facilitating group therapy in a safe, collaborative space
  • Coordinating with community and government services for additional support
  • Organising educational wananga on alcohol and drug use
  • Supporting early intervention and cultural practices that promote wellness

Our Te Poutama Tautoko AOD team is focused on empowering individuals to develop the skills, knowledge, and strategies needed to support change and recovery.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Addictions Practitioner to provide culturally responsive alcohol and drug assessment, treatment, and counselling.
You will work closely with whanau one on one, group sessions and wananga.
Working as a team with other AOD practitioners, you will share and collaborate your successes and challenges with weekly MDTs.
This is a full-time role Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm, based at our large integrated services site in Hastings.

What we are looking for:
  • Full or Provisional Registration with DAPAANZ or similar clinical body is a must
  • Relevant qualifications in Psychology, Addictions, Social Work, Counselling or Nursing
  • Experience delivering therapeutic interventions for addiction including Te Ao Māori models of health
  • Experience working with successfully with whānau
  • Understanding of Te Ao Māori and Te Reo or willingness to embrace
  • Proficiency in report writing and case management
