Job summary

Riwaka School in Nelson is seeking a passionate, creative and enthusiastic teacher for 2027. The role is full‑time and fixed term (Start 26/01/2027, End 27/01/2028).

You will teach across Years 1–8 with a focus on culturally responsive relational pedagogy and strong community connections. Qualifications

  • is an experienced teacher and flourishes when working in partnership with whānau.
  • is committed to teaching to the North East and culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • understands the science of learning, experience in teaching using structured scope and sequences is advantageous (BSLA and Maths No Problem)
  • creates engaging, inclusive learning environments where every learner can thrive.

  • will show commitment to our school's vision – Connected in community, nurtured with care, empowered to flourish – and our AWHI attributes.

Responsibilities

  • Teach across Years 1–8 in a rural primary/intermediate setting.
  • Collaborate with whānau and colleagues to support learning.
  • Contribute to the school vision and AWHI attributes through teaching practice.
  • Apply culturally-responsive relational pedagogy in daily lessons.
  • Participate in professional growth and a collaborative school culture.
