Job summary

Hawkins in New Zealand is seeking a junior Quantity Surveyor for the Manawatū region. Reporting to a Project Manager, you will assist with financial management of commercial construction projects, help set budgets, monitor cost-to-complete, and prepare progress claims and variations.

You will work with experienced professionals on iconic NZ projects and develop skills in financial reporting and cost control.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years' experience working on mid to large commercial construction projects.
• Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying or similar relevant qualification.
• Excellent NZ contract law knowledge.
• Excellent financial literacy and exposure to Jobpac or a similar financial control package would be highly desirable.
• Advanced computer literacy; particularly in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the financial management of projects, setting and monitoring budgets, reviewing cost to complete, programming review, progress claims and variations, and financial reporting and systems.
• Work with Project Managers and senior management to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost control.
• Assist in forecasting and cost control activities across projects.
