Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a Junior Accountant to join a busy, growing team in Auckland. You will work Monday–Friday in a full-time role (30–40 hours per week) and gain hands-on experience with financial statements, tax, and GST tasks.

The position requires a relevant bachelor’s degree in accounting or related fields and proficiency with Xero, MYOB, and Excel. NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa is essential. Salary is paid hourly, with the rate depending on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, statistics, or mathematics.
• Relevant work experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with Xero, MYOB and Excel.
• Strong communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for companies, trusts, and individuals.
• Prepare tax returns in accordance with New Zealand tax legislation.
• Prepare GST returns, PAYE, and other statutory compliance filings.
• To assist in the maintenance of the taxation of the databases.
• Liaise with clients regarding routine accounting and taxation matters.
• Other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned to you from time to time.

Location of Work: Auckland

Type of employment: Full time, 30 - 40 hours per week

Days required: Monday – Friday

Pay: $28 - $33 per hour, based on qualification and experience
