Job summary

Macmahon Underground is returning to New Zealand and seeks experienced Jumbo Operators for the Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton on New Zealand’s South Island. This role supports underground development, production and backfill with operations starting from October 2026.

We are looking for safety-focused operators with proven underground mining experience and strong capability operating jumbo drill rigs. Local/ FIFO rosters apply, with accommodation and flights provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience operating jumbo drill rigs.
• Strong safety focus and ability to speak up.
• Team mindset and reliable work ethic.
• Valid NZ Class 1 Driver Licence with DG endorsement (essential).
• First Aid Certificate (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Operate Sandvik jumbo drill rig in a safe and efficient manner.
• Read and understand development designs and memos to guide work.
• Carry out underground development activities, including boring and ground support.
• Install ground support including split sets, resin bolts and mesh.
• Contribute to all stages of the mining cycle, maintaining productivity.
• Provide clear and effective communication with the crew.
• Contribute to a people-first culture and live Winning Values.
• Help teammates and support a strong crew culture.

Role Details

• Location: Snowy River Gold Mine Project – Reefton, New Zealand’s South Island
• Roster: 7:7 (Local) or 14:14 (FIFO)
• Accommodation allowance provided for local personnel
• Flights, transport and accommodation provided for FIFO personnel

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum 2 years’ experience operating the jumbo drill rigs.
• Strong safety focus and ability to speak up.

• Valid Class 1 (unrestricted manual) New Zealand drivers licence with a Dangerous Goods (D) endorsement (essential).
• First Aid Certificate (highly desired).
