Job summary

Macmahon New Zealand is seeking experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic Fitters to join our Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton, on New Zealand's South Island.

In this hands-on role, you will perform maintenance, repairs and diagnostics on a fleet of brand-new underground mining equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operations. Roster options include 7:7 local or 14:14 FIFO, with accommodation and travel provided.

Qualifications

• Certified mobile plant trade qualification (Cert III or equivalent) required.
• Experience maintaining and repairing underground mining equipment preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across heavy mobile equipment.
• Experience managing maintenance records and reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance on underground mobile equipment.
• Complete servicing and maintenance to OEM standards and site procedures.
• Support equipment reliability, availability and safe operating performance.
• Collaborate with production and planning teams to safely execute maintenance activities.
• Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

About the Role

Macmahon New Zealand is seeking experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic Fitters to join our team at the Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton on New Zealand's South Island.

In this hands-on role, you will perform maintenance, repairs and diagnostics on a fleet of primarily brand-new underground mining equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operations. Working alongside a skilled and supportive team, you'll contribute your expertise while continuing to develop your skills in a high-performing underground mining environment.

What You'll Bring

• Australian or New Zealand recognized Mobile Plant Trade Qualification (Cert III or equivalent).
• Experience maintaining and repairing underground mining equipment, ideally Sandvik fleet.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across heavy mobile equipment.
• Experience managing maintenance records and reporting systems.
• Valid unrestricted manual New Zealand Class 1 or Australian C Class Driver's Licence (essential).
