Job summary

Bank of New Zealand is seeking an Intermediate Developer to join the Whakatau team. You will build, maintain and support secure Java/Spring Boot APIs, handle data pipelines and contribute to credit decisioning platforms.

Based in Auckland or Wellington with a 3 days in-office, 2 days remote hybrid pattern. You will work with AWS, CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes and ensure system health and security while growing technical expertise.

Qualifications

• Experience building and maintaining Java/Spring Boot APIs.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, integrations and security concepts.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot incidents and support production systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes and cloud services.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain Java/Spring Boot APIs and integrations.
• Translate requirements into reliable software solutions.
• Support the credit decisioning platform, troubleshoot incidents.
• Contribute to platform upgrades, patching and security remediation.
• Create and maintain automated tests and operational documentation.
