Job summary

Destination Marlborough is seeking an adaptable Team Leader to oversee our Picton team and collaborate across Blenheim and Picton sites. You will manage day-to-day operations, administration and service delivery to visitors, while promoting a safe, welcoming workplace and a strong team culture.

You will play a vital role in supporting business plans, sales targets, marketing and budgets, ensuring exceptional visitor experiences across Marlborough.

Job Category: Strategic Management Department

Destination Marlborough (DM) is Marlborough’s Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO), supporting the delivery of quality visitor experiences that will compel visitors to come back. We require a adaptable team leader to oversee our Picton team. Working collaboratively across the Blenheim and Picton sites, you will be responsible for the effective day-to- day operations, administration, and delivery of services.

As the team leader, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and exceptional service delivery to our visitors, while displaying strong customer service skills, and a passion for Marlborough.

Here is a snapshot of what may keep you busy:

• Strengthening a strong team culture, leadership and performance
• Co-ordinating rosters, training and quality standards
• Managing day to day isite operations
• Supporting the Destination Management Manager on annual business plans, sales targets, marketing, administration support and budgets
• Adhering to health and safety guidelines and maintaining a safe working environment

You’ll be a champion for tourism in Marlborough, while your understanding of regional offerings, backed by your experience in leading a team will be key for this role

To thrive in this role, you'll have:

• Experience in customer service and leadership
• A passion for Marlborough
• Previous travel experience
• Sales or selling skills experience
• Eligible New Zealand working rights
• Flexibility to undertake various tasks
• A positive attitude, and (ideally) a good sense of humour
• Initiative, self-motivation and the ability to work well under pressure
• Availability to work over Christmas/ New Year and weekends (to support the team with peak visitor numbers).
