Internal Opportunity | International Success Team Leader - Open to MIT and Unitec staff only

We're looking for an International Success Team Leader to lead a dedicated team supporting the wellbeing, engagement and success of our international learners.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to step into leadership, broaden their experience, or further develop their people leadership capability. You'll lead a team of 6-10 staff while helping shape services, programmes and initiatives that make a real difference to the international student experience. The role reports to the International Student Support Manager.

About the opportunity

This is a fixed-term position from 30 November 2026 to 17 December 2027.

We welcome applications from staff across MIT and Unitec. Where operationally feasible, the successful applicant may be able to take up the role as a secondment, subject to the agreement of their current manager.

Where a secondment is not able to be supported, the successful applicant would move into the role as a fixed-term employee for the duration of the appointment. Staff considering applying are encouraged to discuss the opportunity with their manager early in the process.

Regular travel across our MIT and Unitec campuses is an integral part of this role. We will discuss the travel requirements in more detail during the interview process.

Why this role?

This is an opportunity to:

  • Develop and grow your leadership skills.
  • Lead a passionate and student-focused team.
  • Drive initiatives that improve learner success and wellbeing.
  • Build relationships across MIT, Unitec and the wider organisation.
  • Gain experience in operational leadership, projects, continuous improvement and compliance.
  • Make a meaningful impact on the lives of international learners.

We'd love to hear from kaimahi who:

  • Are passionate about learner success, wellbeing and delivering excellent student outcomes.
  • Have experience leading people, projects, programmes, initiatives or operational activities, or are ready to take the next step into a formal leadership role.
  • Build strong relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and the ability to navigate complex situations professionally.
  • Have experience improving processes, solving problems and driving positive change.
  • Are confident managing competing priorities and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have an interest in the international education space and supporting learners from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Bring strong communication skills and a positive, solutions-focused approach.

Manukau Institute of Technology and Unitec are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We welcome and celebrate diversity and are committed to building a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
