Job summary

The Creative Store - New Zealand is seeking an intermediate designer to shape the visual identities of a wide range of brands across digital, print, motion, activations and in-store touchpoints. You will own projects from concept to delivery and mentor junior designers while contributing fresh ideas.

Expect hands-on design development, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and opportunities to lead projects and push creative boundaries in a dynamic agency environment.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of industry experience in a similar role.
  • A relevant qualification in Graphic Design from a tertiary level institute or similar.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Figma.
  • Illustration skills are an added advantage.
  • Experience in Adobe Premiere Pro and 3D design such as Cinema 4D are an added advantage.
  • Excellent visual design skills with a keen eye for detail, typography, colour, and layout.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and decisions.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to self-manage.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Design development across digital assets, print collateral and brand campaigns.
  • Craft comprehensive creative briefs for in-house and external teams.
  • Produce prototypes, mock-ups, and wireframes to visualise concepts.
  • Manage design projects from concept to completion with timely delivery.
  • Ensure designs meet technical specs and brand guidelines.
  • Handle colour correction, grading, retouching for images and videos as needed.
  • Packaging updates to existing artwork.
  • Collaborate with Design Leads, PMs and stakeholders for smooth workflows.
  • Lead on design projects when required and drive innovative ideas.

You will take ownership of design projects from concept through to completion, ensuring every output is high-quality, on-brand, and delivered on time - while mentoring junior designers and contributing fresh creative thinking to the wider team.

Design & Content Creation
  • Design Development: Create and develop innovative design solutions that align with project goals and brand guidelines across digital assets, print collateral and brand campaigns
  • Briefs: Craft comprehensive creative briefs for both in-house and external creative teams
  • Prototypes + Mock Ups: Produce prototypes, mock-ups, and wireframes to visualise design concepts and facilitate stakeholder feedback
  • Project Management: Manage design projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs meet technical specifications and are consistent with brand guidelines
  • Handle colour correction, grading, retouching for images and videos and audio with videos where required
  • Packaging: Minor updates to existing packaging artwork
  • Other tasks management may deem appropriate from time to time
  • Team Coordination: Work closely with the Design Leads and Design Project Manager to ensure smooth workflows and high-quality output
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with the Design Director, marketers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver effective design solutions
  • Leadership Development: Provide guidance and mentorship to intermediate and junior designers, helping them grow and improve their skills
  • Project Leadership: Take the lead on design projects when needed, ensuring successful execution from concept to completion
  • Conceptualisation and Innovation: Bring fresh and innovative ideas to the table. Lead and actively participate in creative brainstorming sessions, proposing creative solutions that align with project goals and market trends.
