Job summary

Acorn Stairlifts is seeking an Installation & Service Technician to join our Wellington team on a full-time basis. This hands-on role installs and maintains stairlifts, delivering safe mobility solutions for customers.

You will work across domestic and commercial sites, perform servicing and diagnostics, and provide clear guidance to customers while maintaining records and ensuring safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a technician in installation, maintenance or repair within mobility aids or related fields.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, while collaborating with team.
  • Full driving licence and unrestricted NZ work rights.
  • Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Install stairlifts in domestic and commercial properties, following specifications and safety standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and servicing on installed stairlifts to ensure performance and safety.
  • Diagnose and repair faults and defects in stairlift systems, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
  • Perform safety inspections and testing on all equipment before handover to customers.
  • Provide clear guidance and training to customers on operation and care of their stairlifts.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, servicing work and repairs completed.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and address customer concerns with professionalism.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and company procedures on site.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report issues promptly.

Installation & Service Technician

Acorn Stairlifts is seeking a skilled Installation & Service Technician to join our team in Wellington area on a full-time basis. This is a hands‑on technical role that plays a vital part in delivering our core service—installing and maintaining stairlifts that enhance mobility and independence for our customers. You will be responsible for both the installation of new equipment and the ongoing servicing of existing systems, ensuring our customers receive reliable, safe solutions. This position offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference in people's lives whilst developing your technical expertise in a growing industry.

Key responsibilities
  • Install stairlifts in domestic and commercial properties, following technical specifications and safety standards
  • Conduct routine maintenance and servicing on installed stairlifts to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Diagnose and repair faults and defects in stairlift systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions
  • Perform safety inspections and testing on all equipment before handover to customers
  • Provide clear guidance and training to customers on the operation and care of their stairlifts
  • Maintain accurate records of all installations, servicing work and repairs completed
  • Respond promptly to service calls and address customer concerns with professionalism and courtesy
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company procedures whilst on site

What we’re looking for
  • Proven experience as a technician in installation, maintenance or repair work, ideally within the mobility aids, lift systems or related mechanical/electrical fields
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Competence in using hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively, whilst also collaborating with team members
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information in an accessible manner
  • Full driving licence.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards and best practice
  • Full unrestricted work right in New Zealand
  • Physical fitness and capability to work in various environments
