Job summary

Southern Cross Healthcare in Auckland, North Island, is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to keep our technology reliable, secure and performing at its best.

You’ll join the Infrastructure Services team providing Level 2/3 operational support across servers, networking, cloud and collaboration platforms, troubleshooting complex issues and implementing improvements in a large enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in an Infrastructure Engineer or Systems Engineer role.
• Experience supporting enterprise or large, multi-site environments.
• Strong troubleshooting capability across Microsoft, networking and cloud technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Hyper‑V.
• Experience supporting Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Microsoft 365 administration experience, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams.
• Experience supporting enterprise wireless, firewalls, network security and telephony environments.
• Experience working within ITIL-aligned environments, using ServiceNow or a similar ITSM platform.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2/3 operational support across a broad enterprise environment spanning servers, networking, cloud, wireless, Microsoft 365, security, telephony and collaboration platforms.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, support infrastructure changes and upgrades, and contribute to improvements that strengthen the technology services used across the organisation.
• Partner with internal teams and technology vendors to resolve issues, deliver effective solutions and maintain reliable services across the organisation.
• Work across technologies including Windows Server, Hyper‑V, Azure, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, enterprise networking, wireless and firewalls.

Ready to take your infrastructure expertise into a large, complex and purpose-led organisation? As our Infrastructure Engineer, you'll play a key role in keeping the technology that supports Southern Cross Healthcare reliable, secure, and performing at its best.

Working as part of our Infrastructure Services team, you'll provide Level 2/3 operational support across a broad enterprise environment spanning servers, networking, cloud, wireless, Microsoft 365, security, telephony and collaboration platforms. You'll troubleshoot complex issues, support infrastructure changes and upgrades, and contribute to improvements that strengthen the technology services used across our hospitals and support functions.

You'll work across technologies including Windows Server, Hyper‑V, Azure, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, enterprise networking, wireless and firewalls, giving you the opportunity to work across a genuinely broad infrastructure environment. You'll also partner with internal teams and technology vendors to resolve issues, deliver effective solutions and maintain reliable services across the organisation.

This is a day rate contractor role (approx 9 months) suited to an experienced Infrastructure or Systems Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working independently, and contributing to continuous improvement within a collaborative team.

• 5+ years' experience in an Infrastructure Engineer or Systems Engineer role
• Experience supporting enterprise or large, multi-site environments
• Strong troubleshooting capability across Microsoft, networking and cloud technologies
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Hyper‑V
• Strong understanding of enterprise networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and switching
• Experience supporting Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy and Microsoft Entra ID
• Microsoft 365 administration experience, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams
• Experience supporting enterprise wireless, firewalls, network security and telephony environments
• Experience working within ITIL-aligned environments, using ServiceNow or a similar ITSM platform
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
