Job summary

HY Engineering LTD, based in Auckland, is seeking a skilled Industrial Spray Painter to join a growing team. The role involves surface preparation, priming, and applying coatings using airless and conventional spray equipment, while ensuring finish quality and adherence to safety protocols.

Applicants should have NZQF Level 3 in industrial spray painting or at least two years of relevant painting experience, with the ability to work independently or in a team and tolerate outdoor/workshop

Qualifications

• NZQF Level 3 qualification in industrial spray painting or equivalent experience
• Minimum two years spraying experience preferred
• Good knowledge of surface prep and coating techniques
• Knowledge of safety practices and PPE use

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming as required
• Mix and apply paints, primers, and coatings using airless and conventional spray equipment
• Ensure coating applications meet specified thickness, texture, and quality standards
• Follow technical instructions and safety protocols for handling hazardous materials
• Maintain and clean spray painting equipment and work areas
• Conduct quality checks and touch-ups as needed
• Adhere to project timelines and coordinate with welders and site supervisors
• Assist with loading/unloading and basic maintenance tasks when required

HY Engineering LTD is an Auckland based and small but growing company specializing in welding and spray painting services for construction projects. As our workload expands, we are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Industrial Spray Painter to join our dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming as required
• Mix and apply paints, primers, and coatings using airless and conventional spray equipment
• Ensure coating applications meet specified thickness, texture, and quality standards
• Follow technical instructions and safety protocols for handling hazardous materials
• Maintain and clean spray painting equipment and work areas
• Conduct quality checks and touch-ups as needed
• Adhere to project timelines and coordinate with welders and site supervisors
• Assist with loading/unloading and basic maintenance tasks when required

Skills and Experience

• Have a minimum of a NZQF Level 3 qualification in a related Industrial Spray Painting field.
• Alternatively, at least two years of relevant work experience in spray painting or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of surface preparation and coating techniques
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and paint system requirements
• Familiarity with safety practices and PPE use in a painting environment
• Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently or as part of a team
• Physically fit and able to work in workshop and/or outdoor conditions
• Working hours: minimum of 30 hours each week.
