Job summary

Brooklyn School (Wellington) is seeking a permanent Learning Support Coordinator (0.74 FTE) with NZ Teacher Registration and a current practising certificate. You will collaborate with students, staff and leadership to ensure every learner receives targeted support in an inclusive environment.

The role requires understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, strong interpersonal and organisational skills, knowledge of child development and neurodiversity, and the use of assessment to guide decisions.

Qualifications

• Understanding of and commitment to the Principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive approaches to supporting learners and whānau
• Strong interpersonal skills, empathy and ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with whānau and staff
• Knowledge of child development and neurodiversity and applying this to support diverse learner needs
• Capability in using assessment information to guide decisions
• Strong organisational and communication skills and reliable follow-through
• Ability to work with school leadership to influence inclusive practice
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
• Understanding of The Better Start to Literacy Approach and MAP Mathematics Intervention
• Involvement in wider life of the school, participating in team and school-wide programmes
