Job summary

Vessev is offering a Mechatronics & Electrical Engineering Intern position in Aotearoa. The role focuses on hands-on development, testing, and integration of electrical and mechatronic systems for hydrofoiling electric vessels.

You will gain experience across battery systems, high‑level validation, prototype builds, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration with mechanical and software teams.

Qualifications

  • Working towards or recently completed degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Electronics Engineering.
  • Strong foundation in power systems, electrical circuits, and control systems.
  • Experience with testing, validation, or integration of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with electrical testing and validation of power distribution, battery systems, sensors, actuators, and control hardware in workshop and on-water environments.
  • Contribute to software development using Python, C/C++, and PLC to IEC61131 for electrical/mechatronic design and testing.
  • Support system integration by installing and integrating electrical and mechatronic systems into vessels.
  • Collect and analyse data with diagnostic tools and sensors to evaluate performance and identify improvements.
  • Help build prototype systems, wiring harnesses, electrical panels, test rigs, and prototype hardware.
  • Support troubleshooting and root-cause investigations to improve reliability and performance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement to simplify electrical systems and enhance manufacturability and safety.
