Job summary

Contact Energy Ltd in Otago is seeking a Generation Technician, Operations to help keep the Waipori Power Scheme running safely and reliably. You'll perform inspections, maintenance, fault investigations and contribute to outages.

This hands-on role requires a trade certificate or equivalent, a strong safety mindset, and practical problem-solving. You will operate high-voltage equipment and maintain records, while supporting health and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate or equivalent qualification is mandatory.
• Experience maintaining equipment and systems is advantageous.
• Ability to investigate plant problems and apply safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate generation and high‑voltage equipment safely and reliably.
• Perform inspections, routine maintenance and outage planning support.
• Investigate faults, respond to alarms, and implement improvements.
• Maintain accurate operation and maintenance records and support HSE compliance.
