Job summary

Seipp in Auckland is seeking a hands-on Hydro Excavation Operator / Driver to join our team. This role goes beyond driving a truck; you'll be part of a crew delivering work safely and to a high standard across civil and infrastructure projects.

You'll operate hydro excavation trucks, perform pre-starts, assist site teams, and maintain equipment, while prioritizing safety and quality. A background in civil construction and a Class 4 license are preferred, with a Class 5 bonus.

Responsibilities

• Operating hydro excavation trucks safely and efficiently.

• Completing pre-starts, basic maintenance, and keeping equipment in top condition.
• Working closely with foremen, spotters, and site teams.
• Following site procedures and health and safety requirements at all times.
• Pitching in where needed - this is a team environment, not a one-task role.

What we’re looking for

• Experience operating hydro excavation trucks or similar plant
• Background in civil construction, drainage, or utilities
• Class 4 licence (Class 5 a bonus)
• Good awareness around underground services and site risks
• Ability to work unsupervised and take ownership
• Reliable, practical, and physically fit
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Ministry of Defence security clearance (required for some of our projects)
