Job summary

Advanced Personnel Services – Hastings, North Island, is seeking a Hydro Excavation Operator to join the civil and earthworks team in Hastings. You will operate and maintain a high-pressure water jet with a powerful vacuum system on hydro excavation projects, exposing utilities and supporting infrastructure.

The role requires a Class 4F NZ truck license, fitness to operate machinery, ability to pass a drug test, and eligibility to work in NZ.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and able to operate machinery
• Able to work safely and follow site procedures
• Eligible to work in NZ
• Endorsement for Dangerous Goods is advantageous but not essential

Our Civil and earthworks client is looking for a Hydro Excavation Operator to join their team in Hastings.

About the Job:

As a Hydro-Vac Truck Driver, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a high-pressure water jet with a powerful vacuum system. This specialized truck is used for excavation, debris removal, and other tasks where traditional digging methods are unsafe or impractical.

Key responsibilities include:

Safely operating hydro excavation and vacuum trucks to expose underground utilities, clear debris, and support essential infrastructure maintenance.

Carry out hydro excavation work safely and efficiently

Servicing wastewater plants, pump stations, and public facilities to ensure smooth operations.

Follow all health and safety procedures and site requirements

Work effectively as part of a team and maintain a professional approach on site.

The Details:

Hours: 7am – 5pm (Monday to Friday + occasional weekend + on-call shifts).

Location: Hastings.

What You Need:

Class 4F NZ truck license (clean record).

Physically fit & experienced in operating machinery.

Can pass a drug test.

Eligible to work in NZ.

Dangerous Goods (DG) endorsement is advantageous but not essential
