Job summary

InterGroup in Taupo is seeking an experienced Class 4 Driver/Operator to join our infrastructure team. You will operate vacuum, hydro excavation and catchpit trucks and contribute hands-on to multiple Taupo sites.

The role involves diverse tasks, daily checks, safety, and teamwork with a crew. Training is provided if you’re new to our specialist equipment, and you’ll help deliver high standards across our projects.

Qualifications

• Full Class 4 NZ Driver Licence.
• Experience operating heavy vehicles.
• Willingness to undertake physical work and maintain fitness.
• Commitment to health and safety and teamwork.
• Ability to learn and operate specialist equipment with provided training.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate Class 4 vacuum, hydro excavation and catchpit trucks.
• Operate vacuum, water blasting, suction and associated equipment.
• Catchpit cleaning and drainage maintenance.
• Hydro excavation and vacuum loading.
• Set up and pack down equipment; perform daily vehicle checks.
• Work safely with the crew and complete job records and documentation.

InterGroup is looking for an experienced Class 4 Driver / Operator to join our Taupo Infrastructure team.

This isn't a role where you'll simply drive from A to B. You'll be behind the controls of vacuum, hydro excavation and catchpit trucks, operating specialist equipment, working alongside your crew and getting hands‑on to get the job done.

Every day is different, with a variety of sites, projects and challenges across Taupo region.

No experience with our specialist equipment? No problem. We'll provide training for the right person.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll be involved in a wide range of infrastructure work, including:

• Driving and operating Class 4 vacuum, hydro excavation and catchpit trucks
• Operating vacuum, water blasting, suction and associated equipment
• Catchpit cleaning and drainage maintenance
• Hydro excavation and vacuum loading
• Setting up and packing down equipment
• Carrying out daily vehicle and equipment checks
• Getting hands‑on with manual work when required
• Completing job records and documentation
• Working closely with your crew to get the job done safely, efficiently and to a high standard

You’ll work across different Taupo sites, so if you enjoy variety, being outdoors and working with a great crew, you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Bring

• A full Class 4 NZ Driver Licence
• Experience operating heavy vehicles
• A good level of fitness and willingness to undertake physical work
• A strong work ethic and reliable attitude
• A willingness to learn and develop your skills

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with vacuum trucks, hydro excavation, catchpit cleaning, drainage or specialist equipment is an advantage, but it's not essential. If you've got the right attitude, we'll help you learn the rest.
