Job summary

Pirttek is seeking a dynamic Hydraulics Field Service Technician to support on-site hydraulic needs in the South Auckland area. You will handle new builds, breakdown responses, hose and fitting replacements, and keep customers operating smoothly.

Independent work with travel across the South Auckland region is required; strong customer relationships and problem-solving skills are essential. Training provided and a collaborative Pirtek network supports your growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' hands-on hydraulic servicing experience.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Full NZ driver’s licence.
• Ability to work independently and in a small team.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.

This is a dynamic mobile position with a great variety of work – from on-site support for plumbing up new builds, responding to break downs, replacing hydraulic hoses and fittings on machinery and keeping our customers operating. You will need to be capable of operating independently, making on-site decisions and build trusted relationships with our customers. The role requires work across the South Auckland area.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble and install hydraulic hoses
• Respond to breakdowns and service requests
• Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic faults
• Complete repairs and new installations
• Manage your daily service calls
• Maintain your service vehicle, tools, stock and job records
• Deliver professional customer service
• Participate in an on-call roster every second week

About you

• At least five years' relevant hands-on experience in hydraulic servicing, field service and machinery maintenance
• Confidence using tools and measuring equipment accurately
• Strong fault-finding and practical problem-solving skills
• A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence
• Good communication and customer-service skills
• Proven reliability and pride in your workmanship
• The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Flexibility for after-hours callouts
• The physical capability to safely perform the role
• Permanent role with Monday-to-Friday 08:00am to 5:00pm working hours
• Paid commission, overtime and additional earning potential through the on-call roster
• A fully equipped service vehicle, including fuel for work and commuting
