Job summary

2 Cheap Cars Ltd is seeking an Automotive Technician/Mechanic to diagnose and repair vehicles in a busy Auckland workshop. You will inspect engines, electrical systems and hybrid batteries, perform servicing, and replace parts as needed.

The role requires a Level 3 automotive qualification or 3+ years’ experience, a full NZ driver’s licence, and the ability to work weekends. Join a team focused on quality and customer service.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification (Level 3 or above) or at least three years' experience as automotive technician/mechanic.
• Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence is required.
• Experience with hybrid vehicle diagnostics and battery diagnostics.
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as needed.
• Professional approach and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and proactive mindset.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues.
• Inspect computer and electronic systems for repair, maintenance and updates.
• Perform hybrid battery diagnostics, servicing, and replacement.
• Repair mechanical and electrical faults and replace parts as needed.
• Use diagnostic tools and scanners to identify faults and performance issues.
• Conduct routine maintenance to ensure roadworthiness and longevity.
• Ensure health and safety regulations and workshop standards are met.
• Provide high-quality workmanship and customer service.
• Participate in weekly toolbox meetings and follow company policies.
