Job summary

Auckland Council’s Regulatory Engineering department has a permanent full-time Traffic Engineer role based in the Albany team. You will provide expert guidance to planners, development engineers, compliance teams, and the public.

With 3–5 years in transport projects and a Civil Engineering degree, you’ll work on pre-application assessments, asset management, and knowledge-sharing. Hybrid work with KiwiSaver contributions and a competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering with traffic components.
• NZ driver's licence is essential.
• 3–5 years in design/operation/project management of subdivision and land development projects with transport assets.
• Hands-on experience with SIDRA modelling and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to pre-application meetings and assess engineering applications.
• Support knowledge-building across the team.
• Deliver traffic engineering training and strengthen decision-making.
• Conduct site inspections and manage application workflows.
• Represent traffic engineering views at Council and hearings.
• Stay across legislative changes and communicate their impact.
